rockin-tom's 1979 Mesa
Boogie Mark II
When one of rockin-tom's friends
from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania notified him that he had purchased
a Boogie, rockin-tom's first thought was "What a stupid name for
an amplifier". Then rockin-tom's friend said, "Go ahead, plug in
and try it out". Needless to say rockin-tom was sold on the
first note and decided he had to order one. That was back in the
day when you had to order them and wait for months for them to
build it for you. Mesa Boogies are the grandfathers of
"boutique" amplifiers. They are high gain and high power and
built very well with quality components.
The Boogie head shown to
the right has traveled with rockin-tom on every tour.
rockin-tom's current speaker configuration is a single 12-inch
JBL K120 in a separate cabinet for portability. The amplifier is
great when a variety of sounds are required for music of
multiple genres.
rockin-tom's Previous
Boogie Configurations
1979-1980
Boogie head with two EVM 12-inch cabinets.
1980-1982
Boogie head with Hiwatt 4x12. It sounded awesome. Of course
the milk crates were not needed then.
1982-1987
Boogie head with JBL in a monitor wedge. Sound engineers loved
that.
1987-2007
Boogie head in a combo cabinet with JBL. The amplifier was
too heavy to carry.
